X-Caddis

The X-Caddis is a simple caddis pattern that does a little bit of everything. It imitates an emerging or crippled caddis on the surface, making it a great choice when trout are looking up but aren't keyed in on fully emerged adults.

With an elk hair wing, buggy body, and trailing shuck, the X-Caddis has just enough realism to fool picky trout, but works great as searching pattern. It’s most effective during caddis hatches, but it also works well if you are unsure what bugs fish are after. 

I like to pair this fly with a size 18 Parachute Adams, when I am unsure what bugs are hatching. During a caddis hatch, I will pair it with a size 18 elk hair caddis, in order to imitate full adults, and emergers/cripples
